§ 11-5-46. Peddling restricted to certain areas.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful to peddle or sell fruits, vegetables, farm produce, candies or merchandise of any kind and description from wagons, trucks, automobiles, pushcarts or vehicles of any kind on any street designated as closed to vendors by the council in section 10-1-291(19) of title 10. A current list of those streets is available in the office of the city clerk, the city collector, and the director of transportation.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful to sell fruits, vegetables, farm produce, candies or merchandise of any kind and every kind and description from wagons, trucks, automobiles, pushcarts or vehicles on any of the other streets of the city by maintaining fixed locations on such streets for the purpose of offering such fruits, vegetables, farm produce, candies or merchandise for sale. Nothing in this section shall prohibit the peddling of fruits, vegetables, farm produce, candies or merchandise on the streets outside of the area restricted above when the seller thereof is engaged in canvassing from house to house and provided no fixed location is maintained at any point on such streets.
