§ 10-1-35. Flashing signals.

  • Where traffic is controlled by an official traffic control signal, flasher or combination of flasher and another traffic control device exhibiting flashing colored indications, the meaning of such flashing colored indication shall be as follows:

    (1)

    Flashing red or "STOP." A person driving a vehicle approaching or facing the signal must come to a complete stop before entering the nearest crosswalk at an intersection or at another point if indicated by a stop line.

    (2)

    Single flashing yellow or "CAUTION." A person driving a vehicle approaching the signal must proceed through the intersection with caution.

    (3)

    Single or dual yellow or "CAUTION" in school areas. Whenever the dual flashing yellow signal lights are installed in school areas it shall be unlawful to operate a motor vehicle in the area controlled thereby at a speed greater than that displayed on the speed lens or signs associated with said flashing lights.

    (4)

    Placing flashers. The flashing signals described in this section shall be placed as designated in article P, schedule 2.
